Reader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men
in response to reader comment: Happy holidays you guys!

I have purposely stayed away for awhile, as it just seems to be (certain) people arguing back and forth. I don't understand why there has to be so much spite. What happens to some people happens, and for others it might be different, but I thought this thread was to help non-Muslim women understand the ways of Muslim men. No, they are not all the same, but if a woman is coming here it is because something questionable has already occurred. I think the hardest thing is realizing that no matter how much you want your particular situation to be different, in the end, it's not. If you want to think your situation is different, you just haven't reached the point yet where you realize it's not. There are women who have been involved, even married, to Muslim men for years before realizing they never really knew the guy, or his family. I could have continued to hang on, and believe the lies, but in the end I realized it was all a waste - a waste of my time, energy, emotions, and money (the money simply due to the cost of visiting him in Morocco, and petitioning for him to come to the U.S.). He made a BIG point of saying he never asked me for money, but he never needed to. All he had to do was make a passing remark about being unemployed and broke. Since he was responsible for his family, and I cared about them, I felt the need to help. However, he didn't get much from me, and I know he incurred his own expenses to marry me and in preparation for his visa interview, so in the end he really didn't benefit from trying to con me. In fact, he pretty much screwed himself from ever being able to (legally) enter the U.S., so it wound up costing him. That doesn't make me happy. What happened is actually pretty sad. But maybe it taught him something. Who knows? I have no desire to communicate with him or anyone in his circle to even try to find out. I believe I benefitted from the experience, but would never wish to go through it again. I just hope that it helps someone coming here, and reading about most of these experiences, to get out before they invest so much of themselves they are irreparably damaged. There is no human being on the face of the earth worth this much trouble, no matter how much they have convinced you they are. Everyone stay safe, and hopefully we all get through this year no worse for the wear. Here's to 2021!
