Reader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men
in response to reader comment: A heartless Egyptian student

N and S, don't waste another minute of your life thinking about this horrible man.

What you've experienced happens time and time again with Egyptian men and foreign women... this is why I'd advise anyone involved with one to take things at face value, and not listen to their "words". If an Egyptian man (actually any man, period) is not investing in you then he most likely will take off and leave you high and dry.

Why do they do it? Because they can. Because they don't respect women, even more so non Egyptian women. They are very entitled and grow up being waited on hand and foot by their female relatives. Some have a wife from every country in the EU, as well as the hidden wife at home washing their underpants. They just don't care.

Maybe he is telling the truth - maybe he doesn't love her. The marriage probably is arranged to some degree, but with that said they can refuse. He is a grown man. If he really wanted you, he would've asked you to convert to his faith and become his woman. He chose her. Not only that, he lied to you and he lied to her. He is a typical Egyptian womaniser. Count your lucky stars that you found out who he really is.

Would you really want someone like that? What has happened, is he has bruised your ego by replacing you with someone else, and in doing so has made you question your self worth. You've become addicted to seeking validation from this loser who has rejected you. Don't fall for it. This is a guy that has to call the cops on a woman. The best thing you can do is forget about him and act like he never existed. Eventually you will meet a true, honest man, but while you're stuck on him you will keep repeating the same mistakes.

Don't cry about him - you had a lucky escape. Had you married him he would've been controlling and his family would have you under their thumb as well. He is not worth the headache. Do some self reflection and understand that he doesn't define you. Only you have the power to define yourself and your purpose.
