Reader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men
in response to reader comment: Lies and double lives

It never fails to surprise me, how heartless these men can be, but in order to understand them you have to remember one word - intent. When we enter these relationships, our intent is to love and be loved. To support and be taken care of. A fair, loving relationship that might one day end in marriage. From day one, they have an end goal in mind.

We are not their end goal. We're a means to an end. We're not the cake, we're the cake mix. Look, men are selfish. They're goal orientated. They leave children behind, abandon whole families... all for an ego boost. Mena men are no different. Think of it like a job. Your end goal is promotion, higher salary. If it means kissing more backside, cutting down competition on the way up - most would. You will break your moral code to achieve that goal.

Mena men... Muslim men... are taught that life (dunya) is fleeting and unimportant. What really matters is attaining paradise. To achieve that they need to fulfil their god's wishes, closely followed by their families' orders.

Trust actions. Men aren't big talkers, unless they're trying to sell themselves. Upselling usually indicates low value or authenticity. What men truly want, they'll invest in, with time and money. The less he invests, the easier it'll be for him to up and leave. Men think logically, while us women often let our emotions get the better of us.

We have a tendency to create scenarios in our heads, when the signs were always there from day one.

Never make a man your king until he makes you his queen. Be the queen, not the pawn.
