Reader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men

I am new to this site and was utterly shocked when I came across it TBH. I cannot believe so many people have had the same experience I have had with these guys!!! It disgusts me.

I was in contact with an Egyptian man for almost a full year. He invited me to come live with him and promised me an apartment and love and everything sweet. I am American and 10 years his senior. I guess that could have been my first clue. I noticed in the beginning that he was super controlling and jealous but I just assumed it was bc he loved me and sadly I took it as a compliment. I started to feel like things were off a couple of months ago bc he didn't call as much or text at his usual times...let's say I was suspicious enough to get back on the dating website we met on and there he was. He had created another profile with his real pic but a fake name!! I was horrified and in shock and I confronted him. He lied and said his phone must have been hacked. The sad part is that I wanted so badly to not feel like I had been deceived that I half believed him. Ugh.

Well..after a few weeks he kept pressuring me to come to Egypt come to Egypt..his Allah would never let him hurt me...used all his religious lines on me and I even went to the airport but ultimately I couldn't go thru with it. He admitted he cheated on me...but blamed me bc it took me too long to come to Egypt. I finally broke all contact with him on Thursday. Today is Monday.

Even though I know he is a terrible guy who was cheating and only after my money and an easier life...I'm still in so much pain. I wasn't prepared to be hurting so badly. It was my decision to leave and I must stay strong. I think constantly how he is probably already doing the same thing with another girl and it kills me.

Does anyone have any advice for me to get thru this? I won't lie..my first thought was to get online and meet another guy..just someone to divert my attention..but I know 100 percent that that is not the answer right now. Thank you all so much for reading my story. God bless:)
