Why can't the UN influence the Palestinians?

Why can't the UN intervene (they love telling the US what we should or shouldn't do!!)and tell the Palestinians to get their engineers on the site to evaluate it before it plunges the whole Middle East, if not the world, into the bloodiest war we've ever seen?? Of course this may be the very trigger that will start the end times the Bible predicts!
