Excellent ArticleReader comment on item: Something Rotten in Denmark? Submitted by Columbia J-School Student (United States), Aug 28, 2002 at 00:17 Excellent piece on Denmark. I think it would be important to add that many liberal Danes support the crackdown on Muslim immigration. While working overseas I met a number of Danes, whom by American standards were extremely liberal, but were scared of the effects unassimilated immigrants were having on their open, tolerant and liberal society. It is an interesting situation, one that Pim Fortuyn exemplified, where liberals are seeing reactionary newcomers wanting to change the liberal society they created, and the liberal society that originally welcomed the newcomers.
