Syria and Hezbollah

Reader comment on item: A Neo-Conservative's Caution

Submitted by B. Alotaibi (United States), Mar 9, 2005 at 13:40

I think the Syrian removal from Lebanon will not lead to Hezbollah becoming the dominant power as Dr. Pipes implied.

Removal of Syria will chock Hezbollah to death. The power of that terrorist group will diminish significantly provided US keeps the pressure on Assad regime.

The most important thing to the Syrian government is to stay in power no matter what, and if it thinks that the US may target the regime then Assad and his thugs are going to behave.
