Dear Daniel Pipes,

Thank you for this valuable post. (All your posts are valuable, of course.)

From a position of total ignorance, I have had misgivings about the Syrian problem since some months ago Quadrant published an article, at http://www.quadrant.org.au/magazine/issue/2012/4/what-is-going-on-in-syria, saying things not too far from what you say in your present post. Because of my ignorance I did not know how to assess the article, but, though in doubt, I was inclined to take it seriously, because Quadrant is usually on the right side. But the holier-than-thou do-gooders in political power of course took the other side, and now we are allied with Al Quaeda!
