If you have spent a lot of time with him and know him well and can accept that under Islam he will always have control of you. If you can also accept that Egyptian culture means that his family will always come first and that most of his money will go back to them in Egypt then go ahead. Many Egyptian men work in Kuwait in the oil fields with the full intent on sending all the money back to family in Egypt. If he says that he can get a "Green Card" to any country then he spinning you a line as I know for a fact that hew would not be allowed into Australia nor the UK even as a tourist.
