religion or "religion"?Reader comment on item: America's Desultory Religious Reporting Submitted by Howard (United States), Mar 30, 2009 at 11:05 Sometimes I think this treatment by the MSM is because we tend to categorize "religion" as compassionate, loving, altruistic, interested in personal perfection and world peace, avoiding violence, etc. In spite of serious differences, this categorization works to a great extent with most Christian denominations, Mormonism, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc., etc. But not with Islam. Our categories get in the way of our observations. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Comment on this item
