Infidel: You've quoted part of Surah 4: Verse 3 of the Holy Quran. May I give you the whole translated verse which is "If ye fear shall not Be able to deal justly with the orphans, Marry women of your choice, Two, Three or Four; But if ye fear that ye shall not Be able to deal justly(with them)Then only one or (a captive) That your right hands possess. That will be more suitable, To prevent you from doing injustice.
Islam does not not propogate polygamy. Infact from the text we discourage it by the word "if".

Mary Connor: I'm not sure whether what you claim is a fact of matter about the age, child bearing and so on. But I do agree that if the husband of multiple wives need the state to sponsor his family than he is not qualified to mary more that one in the first place...hence he is not following the guidelines and principles set.
