In fact, the fellow under discussion does not have to have both wives at the same time, though he may. He could marry the hated one before the loved one, or after, and then have both at the same time, or he could divorce one before taking the other, or one or the other could die before he gets married again. I am not arguing that Posuk proves polygamy, only the Jennifer Solis is incorrect to assume it proves the Torah forbids it, especially when so many righteous Torah personalities had multiple wives at the same time, which they wouldn't have been allowed to do if the Torah forbade it.
