Sahane, there are many Turks like myself who are currently studying overseas with the ambition to return to our country and lead us back to the path our great leader Ataturk drew for us. We must all combine our strengths and the experiences we have gained from education to ensure our country's future is in capable hands. I see a time when educated Turks in Turkey connect with those Turks who have returned from overseas and set up a truly strong leadership base. You have the support of millions behind you, and no matter what anyone says - we will succeed.
I find it extremely interesting how uninformed certain commentators in this forum are on Turkish history, particularly with respect to Ataturk and his accomplishments. I suggest some of you should ask Daniel Pipes about his ideas on Ataturk and the impact he had on Turkey. I also suggest you read some biographies written by renowned authors such as Lord Patrick Kinross, Andrew Mango and Norman Itzkowitz on our great leader. In terms of Turkish history - please see the works of Stanford Shaw, Justin McCarthy, and most importantly, Bernard Lewis. I think many of the misconceptions held among some members will be dispelled with some reading.
