Reader comment on item: Study the Koran?

Submitted by avi Elnekave (Israel), Jan 21, 2004 at 11:08

Dear Dr. Pipes,
I understand that it is not possible, in a short newspaper article, to be more detailed. I, for one, would be very interested to get some recomendation on a good, comprehenssive, history book that might trace the course of events leading to the recent 40,50 years processes and events in islam, and how militant Islam came to be with phenomena like Bin Laden, Arafat, Mujahedin etc. I'll appreciate any recommendation.
Thanks,
Avi
