Dr. Pipes,
Your assessment of the Iranian Nuke issue and the possible options the nations of the world face is a perfect case in point . I pray that the next President of this great nation will be sharp thinking, live by strong values, and be totally honest with the citizens. Bush has done his best, yet he has been dishonest about some huge events.
You wrote: "Thus have short-sighted, small-minded, blatantly partisan intelligence bureaucrats, trying to hide unpleasant realities, helped engineer their own nightmare?"
--- I think that is most likely an accurate assumption of the outcome of this destructively irresponsible NIE. Sometimes I get to thinking about our Congressmen and Congresswomen, and I hate to admit my thoughts, but I think they REALLY are living in a bubble of lies fed by selfishness and greed, with no REAL care for the citizens of this GREAT NATION. It is high time that the people of this nation speak out for REAL leaders, or become leaders themselves!
History has repeatedly proven that the greatest Democracies in human ages have lasted approximately 200 years. Well, we are going on roughly 232 years. I believe if the next President does not have a firm understanding of the threat posed by Fundamental Radical Islam and the Islamic Republic of Iran that we are going to face the worst nightmares this country has ever endured.
I believe the U.S. is currently in a phase of "Abundance leading to Complacency." From here, complacency will drive us to apathy, apathy to governmental dependency (socialism; what the secular progressives and far leftwing want), governmental dependency to bondage. All democracies are born out of bondage and die in bondage.
I really think Radical Islam is laughing at us self-destructing. They are waiting for us to become vulnerable enough that they can successfully pull off a major terrorist attack/s on our soil. That being said, who we elect to be our next President will be the most important decision the citizens of this nation will have ever made in the history of our nation.
Ahmedinejad can NOT be more BLUNT in his intentions, yet our politicians and lawmakers remain blinded in denial. The statement Ahmedinejad has made about being in contact with the soon to come 12th Mahdi (Muslim Messiah) and that Jesus Christ will lead with him is absurd. Yet the world does nothing. The statements he has made saying he will wipe Israel off the map are absurd. Yet the world does nothing. The statement he made at Columbia University that there are no Homosexuals in Iran is the most absurd of all. Yet no one there challenged him. He knows full well his government executes gays in his country all the time. I could go on and on about how deranged this mad man is. Nothing he says to the West has any truth to it, yet our leaders keep buying his BS.
In conclusion I will say that Iran IS the greatest threat, abroad, to the freedom of the West. The unfortunate reality for us here at home is that the leading terrorism experts have admitted there are thousands of Radical Islamist cells already here in the country just waiting for the command. So, we have two problems: 1) protect the world from Islam, and 2) protect our citizens here from terrorist attacks by Radial Islamists already here.
I believe Ahmedinejad is filled with and lead by the spirit of Satan himself. It is very foolish and dangerous not to take Satan seriously. The reality the world is witnessing in the onset of the 21st century today, when technology has advanced to the point that the entire world knows of events on the other side of the globe within hours of them happening, allows us to digest and interpret a plethra of information unlike any other time in human history. It is up to people to make well informed decisions based on the truth. The fact that the world is witnessing Fundamental Radical Islam spread like a cancer, murdering hundreds of thousands of infidels globally in the name of Allah and the Prophet Mohammed... is proof to me that "Satan is alive and well on planet Earth!" For Satan is the GOD of this earth. The good news is, not for long!
"All that is required for evil to triumph is for a few good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke
"Evil unchecked grows. Evil tolerated poisons the whole system." - Jawaharial Nehru
People - It is time to wake up and face the brutal truth. We need a strong President who is willing to be honest with the citizens even if the truth may hurt. Our freedom is at stake, and in the end, freedom shall prevail!
