In October 2006 Tony Blair announced that the remainder of his time in office would be devoted to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. At that time Mr. Blair viewed a resolution to their conflict as a defeat of terrorism.

I had considered Tony Blair America's strongest ally in our War on Terror. When I read this a year ago, I wondered whether Bush would follow in Blair's footsteps when his Presidency was nearing its end.
