"At best, circumstances will render it harmless, another forgotten "peace" gambit, like those of . . .
" I have to agree that I hope it is, at best "harmless," but I also have to disagree with what seems implicit in the above, and that is that those other conferences were "harmless." I'm not sure that's what you meant, but that's the way it reads. And they were far from harmless, as they led directly, each one to the next and ultimately to this and, G-d forbid, beyond.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe, back in the 1970's, said of the Israeli leadership wanted to rid themselves of the Temple mount and Jerusalem, but were only looking for the right excuse - (then mostly only the left wanted to, but now it's true virtually across the whole spectrum). In fact, the Rebbe is the only one who spoke out clearly, correctly and unequivocally against the madness. Everything he said they would do has occurred, as the consequences of those foolish moves, and their ultimate results.
It would seem that anyone with that kind of insight would be treasured and listened to, but no. The fools still rely on their own folly, despite it having been proven wrong at every turn. The only hope for Israel, and America (to whom the Rebbe also gave good advice), is to listen to that advice. But then, that's only if failure really "isn't an option."
