Reader comment on item: When Conservatives Argue about Islam

Submitted by Darren (United States), Jul 7, 2007 at 09:44

Observers in the future will note one characteristic of our times is remarkable lack of curiosity about the belief systems of other cultures, and particularly the extremists of Islam, and how our leaders and most of our key thinkers (with some notable exceptions - good on you Daniel) project what we want 'others' to be rather than take a sober look at their belief systems, motivations and worldview. The exceptions to such projection are no doubt well meaning but ultimately far from the full picture, which for now seems to work to the bad guys advantage.
