Growing Up in a Pakistani/Muslim household

Reader comment on item: How Central Is Muslim Anti-Semitism?

Submitted by sophia b (United States), Jun 20, 2003 at 17:59

I have grown up in a Pakistani / Muslim household here in Houston, TX, and NO ONE has ever taught me to hate Jews, or any other people belonging to a religion other than Islam. I've always been taught to be tolerable of other religions.. especially those of Christianity and Judaism.. as this is what the Quran really teaches. In fact, I have a friend that is Jewish, and this not a problem in my parents eyes. Sure, people may have there political opinions as far as the Palestine and Israel conflict goes, but nobody is hating on the Jewish religion or Jewish people. It seems to me that Irfan Khawaja grew up in a very unfortunate social enviroment. He doesn't represent the whole Muslim community.
