Reader comment on item: How Central Is Muslim Anti-Semitism?

Submitted by Mike Steinberg (United States), Jun 30, 2002 at 02:05

I think that a lot of people here in North America don't really grasp the level of state control over the media and religious organizations that goes on in Saudi Arabia, and to a lesser extent Egypt (and, it goes without sying Iraq and Iran). They see something like this little girl, and then a terrorist-apologist like that Sara woman compares it to Jerry Falwell or some other hyper-right christian. The comparison would only work if Falwell was appointed by the White House, and his sermons were vetted by Ari Fleischer, at which point he would become "official" and thus de facto mainstream.

Only a commited terror-apologist could deny official and mainstream anti-semitism in countries where the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" is considered must-see-TV....
