I agree with most of Dr. Pipes's column, but I object to his use of scare quotes in his reference to Arab "refugees," thereby insinuating that there are no real Arab refugees. The late Yitzhak Rabin admitted in the Hebrew edition of his autobiography that he personally oversaw the expulsion of more than 25,000 Arabs from their homes in what was then Palestine. Other Israeli military figures of that time have made similar admissions.
There really are Arab refugees. Pretending otherwise does not advance the hope for peace.
