Perhaps we should have known beforehand

It is interesting that pollsters were entirely wrong in predicting the electoral results. Apparently we must infer that Palestinian opinion is more extreme than the Palestinians are willing to admit when asked about their political preferences. Everyone has been saying that they are fed up with Fatah corruption, but when the upset is as lopsided as this, there must be another factor, and the only plausible one is a much stronger pro-terrorist-destroy-Israel inclination than was thought possible.

But perhaps we should have not been quite so surprised, given that even the supposedly moderate Abbas called for the right of return of up to four million Palestinians to Israel and never did much anything serious to put down the terrorists. In fact, they defied his calls for turning in weapons.
