Jihadism in western converts

Reader comment on item: More Converts to Terrorism

Submitted by Donald W. Bales (United States), Dec 7, 2005 at 11:46

All that is seen or read about Islam is concerned with violence. What else would be expected?
I suspect that many post-Christians are looking for something to replace it even though they may not even be aware of the hard wiring that makes people want to have faith in the supernatural, or, at least, in something that is more important and all-encompassing than just the self.

It may be that many have festering dislikes or hatreds that are just waiting for an outlet or an instrument to use to strike at a society that they feel has failed them in some way. It is more likely that the lack is in the individual than in the society even though all societies have flaws.
