When unprincipled living becomes a habit

Reader comment on item: Is Prince Charles a Convert to Islam?

Dear Dr Pipes:

I was dismayed at the news about Prince Charles accepting over 3 million dollars in cash from a Qatari prince (ref 1). Reportedly 1 Million dollars of this amount was given to Charles in a stuffed suitcase. This reminded me of the time when President Obama sent a plane full of USDs in cash to Iran a few month prior to the end of his second term as president. It is reported that Charles did not see anything wrong in his action.

The nexus between Islamic charities and Islamic influence is visible to all of us. We see examples of this nexus in how Islamists have taken over the opinion pools of some of our academic institutions. Donations from Islamic nations are of questionable quality even when done in full worldview in transparent transactions. When these donations come in the form of stuffed suitcases, their quality can be easily assumed to be low. Prince Charles should have known better.

Unfortunately, we must share some blame. At least since Clinton won his 1992 election despite his sexual escapades and Biden got away with his plagiarism, the distinction between the right and wrong is being systematically being removed in the Western life. France, the UK and many European nations are not much behind. Islam has a mastery on exploiting the weaknesses of its enemies. Qatar will not mind stuffing out pockets with clean and/or dirty cash if we let our ethical standards slip. And, we are helping Islamists by repeatedly supporting questionable behavior by our public figures.

If I had any respect left for Charles, it has disappeared now. May God give a very long and healthy life to the queen so her son can be kept away from the throne.
