in response to reader comment: Understanding Why Afghanistan was Lost from the Beginning

The headlines are touting that the War in Afghanistan is over - far from that, the American deployment stemming from September 11, 2001 has been unceremoniously terminated; but make no mistake, the war that represented is far from over. The current American 46th Administration has seriously botched what should have been the closing efforts of an occupation that may have been proffered as a token of democracy to replace the political impression of how a free nation could be governed; but as is amply demonstrated over and over again; this is not what Islam is about. Is this a lesson learned? Likely not; the Soviets collapsed before realizing their mistake in not correctly assessing the resolve of a determined ideology;
is America on track as well to not see how this can be further destabilizing? A show down is approaching: what has America learned, since the war is not over?
