Reader comment on item: Blowback from Criticizing Trump

Submitted by Dan Schnittker (United States), Jul 27, 2016 at 17:18

As a veteran amateur political observer( since 1960), I am appalled and morbidly fascinated by the state of our national politics, to say nothing of their effects. I agree HRC is a known commodity. Her presidency would be from very bad to catastrophic. You admit Trump could be ok, or even better, however unlikely. Is this not a reason to vote for him: the possibility of a good result, versus the certainty of a bad one?

David Horowitz makes an interesting point, that The Donald's ego, his vanity, make him vitally concerned with his legacy, his place in the pecking order, as our imperfect framers were. Fame, in the ancient Greek sense, makes self regard, even an excess of it, serve a noble public purpose. Hanging on in Kansas.

Thanks Pipes, for all you do.
