Reader comment on item: [Pakistani Christians and] A War Against What?

Submitted by Seen it with my own eyes (United States), Jun 14, 2005 at 17:38

I try to see the world from all sides and to be fair. In college I studied Christian theology, I have read the Bible, the Koran, the 5 keys, the "lost gospels", and have studied Buddhism as well as Islam. I did all this to try to gain a more rounded understanding of the human condition. Several years ago I began working as an officer in a maximum security prison and worked my way up the ranks and finally into a gang unit. I learned more about what makes people do the things that they do during this time than all of my "studying" put together. I have found that an overwhelming majority of violent inmates are following Islam. They may not neccessarily have been following at the time of incarceration, but they convert once "inside". From my observations and discussions I feel that this is due to the leaders of some sects of Islam preaching intollerance, superiority, and VIOLENCE. I am not saying that this is what Islam is about......it is just what is being portrayed especially to violent anti-social people. WHY DO YOU THINK THIS IS SO? ---food for thought---
