This would never happen in OxfordReader comment on item: Musing on History Submitted by Michael S (United States), Apr 19, 2015 at 17:22 Hi, Waz This is from your link:
The four horsemen of Revelation complement each other: conquest, war, famine, pestillence. One feeds on the other, and we are seeing all of them in conflict zones like Syraqia, Somalia, Liberia, etc. If Yemen continues on its course, we will see them there too. The Islamist fundies compound the problem by eschewing "infidel" medicine and driving away "infidel" health care workers. Whatever the cause, the four horseman are among us. Let me see; what can we expect next... Rev 6 Ah, yes. The first four seals are the four horsemen, including leishmaniasis, ebola, and who knows what other plagues will come of all this unrest. Then comes the fifth seal, persecution of the saints -- things like beheading people for the crime of being Christians. It seems to me, this is already happening; and here, a man just got up in church this morning and talked about how the church would be "raptured" away from any suffering... Except for those Christians who have been raptured from reality, then, those of us who ar "left behind" are already experiencing the fifth seal; so I guess we should peek at what the sixth seal has in store for us: [12] And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; That's all just part of the preamble. It hasn't happened yet. We're still in the part that says, [11] ...and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled... Many beheadings are yet to come, then... and more conquest, mor war, more famine and more plagues -- more, that is, except for the American Evangelicals who will be insisting that it isn't happening. "Lord of the Flies"? Did you know that the Lord of the Flies of old was the "Beelzebub" of the Bible? Whoever wrote that screenplay, must have been familiar with the Bible. The miscreants in the movie were Cambridge Kings College choristers -- Oxford kids obviously would not be so noxious (heh heh). It's our 40th today. Gotta run Shalom shalom.
