Reader comment on item: The Middle East Forum Debates Moderate Islam

Expecting an Islam that jettisons its most important chapter, according to Islamic Abrogation, is like expecting any branch of Christianity to deny any respect to Jesus.

I'm surprised that you seem to show such incredible disrespect for the most important goal of Islam according every major & widely accepted Islamic authority in history, that of making the entire world into one Islamic nation.

With all due respect, & I have always had tremendous respect for you, please show me where I'm incorrect. I don't believe that there are a significant number of Muslims, nor is there any even minor Islamic movement that openly promotes the disregarding of the Law of Abrogation, that the later chronological verses of the Koran supersede the earlier ones.

And, why support at all such ideas as you advocate as being something that can change within Islam itself? These ideas are those of an outsider lacking anything like even the slightest respect the least devout Muslim has for these ideas, whether they make sense or not.
They sound to the overwhelming vast majority of Muslims and virtually every Muslim cleric worldwide as blasphemous nonsense.
Why not direct all energies to fighting hundreds of millions of supremacist Muslims, along with Muslims willing to fight Islam, rather than adopt the futile position that Islam will ever be changed by any of the supreme leaders running the lives of hundreds of millions. It's a system, a political & religious system designed to last forever.

The few Muslims willing to openly advocate fundamental change are completely insignificant to worldwide Islam. In addition, they are used as objects of derision.

I suppose I side more with Ibrahim.
