Lev. 20:13 misunderstanding

Reader comment on item: The Middle East Forum Debates Moderate Islam

As per Rashi's commentary, Lev. 20:13 does not speak of homosexuals in the modern sense of the word, but of those who commit one very specific type of man-on-man s3xual activity (the one that begins with fudge). Lesbian activity (let alone a "lesbian" identity) is not even mentioned anywhere in the Tanakh, and the most I could find in rabbinical scripture was a ruling by Maimonides that if two women had sex in public, they should be flogged --- but he rules the same about husband and wife doing it in public.

Another "anti-gay" [NOT] reference in Gen. 19 is not about homosexuality as such, nor even about consensual f....packing, but about male-on-male gang-rape (the initiation ritual for new citizens of Sodom).

Therefore, liberal Jewish clergy who want to be lenient toward homosexuals already have something to work with right from the start.
