Islam is thriving only in non-Islamic democracies

Reader comment on item: Islamism in Disarray

Submitted by Prashant (United States), Dec 2, 2013 at 04:22

Dear Dr Pipes, you gave several examples indicating that Islamism is in disarray in many parts of the world. Islamic fundamentalists are busy killing each other and non-Muslims in different parts of the world and peace is at a premium in Islamic regions of the world. Ironically, Islam is thriving only in democracies around the world like Canada, United States, UK, India and others. In these democracies, Islam draws maximum benefits from multi-culturalism, special-interest politics, knee-jerk liberal thinking, and just plain freedom-of-thought. Time will tell whether Islamism loses on its own turf before it swallows the democratic societies of the world.
