Reader comment on item: Islamism in Disarray

Submitted by Debanjan Banerjee (India), Oct 7, 2013 at 08:36

I must say that your reporting of the current situation in Iran in young Shites converting to Salafism is simply not believable.

How can Shites convert to Salafism when you yourself expressed Salafism as a strictly Sunni phenomenon ?

Also you miss out on two important trends in the Muslim world. One is that economic stagnancy thanks to the faliure of post-cold war US-inspired economic model imposed on the region and the continuing antagonism of the urban youth towards the pro-Western governments in the region.

This is the crux of the problems facing the region.

My solution is that the region is too small to accomodate these bulge of young people from the region so it would be only appropriate to immigrate towards greener postures in Europe , North America and Australia.

To summarize immigration to the West is the solution for Islam.

I would love your views on the same.

Thanks and regards with best wishes

Debanjan

Your "solution for Islam" is highly amusing.
