Great Article! Thank you! Both Turkey and Iran have had more Western and European influence over the centuries and we must not forget the once great power of the Ottoman Turkish Empire. The question is which type of Islam will rule in the end, be it Moderate and evolving into a more tolerant world view, or a trip back in time centuries ago to harsh Islamic Sharia rule. Sadly for the Muslim people, those who fear Sharia law which I believe we all should, may not win control over their governments.

I agree with Daniel Pipes that there was no Spring just an uprising, or like my tolerant Muslim, Christian and Jewish friends in the Middle East say, a Sandstorm. There are so many good people and so many flawed leaders when it comes to human rights and dignity. Christians and Jews over the centuries have found a way to accept each other's differences. They don't practice Sharia law. That is what we all have to fear, especially the good people of Turkey!
