US Will Fill Bomb Craters With Cash

Reader comment on item: Reflections on Current Hamas-Israel Hostilities

Submitted by Builders of Zion (United States), Nov 27, 2012 at 20:29

Hamas hoped to accomplish a couple of things by instigating this latest round of hostilities: They were testing both Obama's and Bibi's resolve - they found the limitations to Obama's support for Israel's right to defend Herself. They managed to advance the concept that Hamas is a legitimate political entity, one with which Israel can negotiate treaties with; And Morsi became the Statesman who brokered a cease fire, no longer is he merely a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

There was little for Hamas to lose. The United States will fill the bomb craters with cash for the purpose of "rebuilding" what Israel tore down. Ultimately, Israel will give concessions in the final cease fire negotiations that will weaken its own security interests. Hamas will wind up with less border control by Israel, and goods (good and bad) will flow into Gaza more freely. Was there a downside for Hamas?

Builders of Zion (http://buildersofzion.org) supports Israels right to defend Her citizens from rocket attacks, and hopes that in the near future Hamas will be removed entirely from Gaza.
