Only the folk in the region that became Jordan had an automatic right to Jordanian citizenship. Those who lived in what remained of the Provisional State of Palestine did not.

The West Bank as it is now known, was legally annexed at the request of the Palestinians Jordan's annexation was as a trustee only (Session: 12-I Date: May 1950).
