Reader comment on item: Two Decades of the Rushdie Rules

After the 1989 development, Islam has reinvented itself by using death threat as a way of forcing the non-believing world to toe its line. Isn't this what the gangsters do? Toe the line, or get hit! The difference is that while organised criminals fight for rather petty financial stakes, Islam has a very big stake. Islamising the entire world. In fourteen centuries it has met with good deal of success in enlisting over one billion people for advancing its political ambitions. Religion is a misnomer. Islam is a totalitarian political ideology at work. Unfortunately, governments are not recognising this fact. Demands of Islamists in all the countries where they are not in majority are treated by the Governments as demands of kids throwing tantrum to get what they want. With such soft and accommodative governments at work in most of the countries, the Islamic task of gaining territory by inches is gathering momentum.
