Reader comment on item: Two Decades of the Rushdie Rules
in response to reader comment: What do we pay government for?

"Government that cannot protect citizens from Islamicist intimidation, loses legitimacy. The essay book entitled The Enemies of Civilization comes to mind. It said that when ruthless outsiders are more ruthless than those who hold a code of honor to protect our rights and safety, then civilization becomes a sitting duck. Then those who exercised their rights are asked by an ineffectual government to go into hiding! We pay taxes and respect to government when government protects us, not when our leadership sells us and our rights."
What a brilliant strategy! What a diabolically brilliant scheme to disperse the Believers among the Kuffar, scattered so that all punitive measures if deemed necessary are extremely complicated to take. Enraged Westerners ( like say retired military personnel ) are tempted - in a fit of anger - to proclaim 'Nuke Mecca'. What would it help? The cadres are elsewhere.
Other options? Deport muslims regarded as threatening and hostile to the society? Millions of muslims in the EU and USA? A pandemonium, not less would ensue.

Sitting pretty, as they say. Hyvin on pullat uunissa. (Translation, anyone?)
