The Greek Orthodox Church

Reader comment on item: Reflections on an Islamic Center in Lower Manhattan
in response to reader comment: What about St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church?

Submitted by There is NO Santa Claus (United States), Sep 10, 2010 at 11:38

Peter:

From everything I've read about that Greek Orthodox Church, the reason it has been delayed is due to construction technicalities, Port Authority infrastructure, and funding. As far as I can tell, there is no political opposition to the church being rebuilt.

I would also add that the developers of the Islamic Community Center should take notice. The scope of their planned project may be far more complex than the mere political frakus we're witnessing now.
