Reader comment on item: Britain's New Export: Islamist Carnage
in response to reader comment: UK did not back down to Nasser

But it was Nassr who demanded the withdrawal, and how come the mighty British empire backs down from finger wagging by Washington. What would Washington have done? Nuke London? Nasser demanded, his proxies rattled non-existent sabers, Britain backed down and fled. Is that a way for a great empire, or any self-respecting Nuclear power to act? Being an Australian, your forebears fought and died for this country, the Land of Israel. They did so for all the right judeo-philic Bible-respecting reasons and I bow my head in their memory every year on the date the light Australian cavalry charged the Guns of Beer Sheva, and won the day, the Land, and ultimately the War. Hail Australia. Incidentally, nopbody knew of any Palestinians at the time. It was the Turks, the Germans and some Arabs against the ANZACs and Jews
