Daniel Pipes and moderate Muslims

Reader comment on item: The Problem with Middle East Studies

Submitted by Ahmad (United States), Jul 16, 2008 at 06:01

Its a pity that Sadowski and Halabi had chosen to misrepresent Dr.Pipes. The fact that Dr. Pipes wrote to them asking for an apology, and having received no apology from them shows that they have set out to continue with their misrepresentations.

I for one think that Dr. Pipes has not gone far enough to counter the threat of Islamist propaganda. For I think, that if Muslims in the West have enjoyed the life-style of true democracy, responsible freedom of speech, rule of law, they should examine very closely what Islam teaches. (Islam is a totalitarian ideology that is the cause of poverty in many Muslim countries and the killing of non-Muslims in Islamic countries or Muslim-majority regions e.g. south Thailand). Muslims should leave this totalitarian ideology altogether. It is not a true religion.

Dr. Pipes should disabuse himself of the idea that there are moderate Muslims!!
