DP: You are too kind to these so-called "academics". A quote is a quote. The fact that they may feel free to interpret your words is no excuse. Neither is your justification that they may have read your words in haste.

The bottom line is that the words attributed to you were not written by you. They have knowingly and intentionally distorted your words while attributing them to you. At the very least it is incompetence and the opposite of scholarship.

At the other end of the spectrum it is fraud. It is appalling that these people could and do hold Phd.s. This reminds me clearly of my undergraduate understanding of the term "Phd", pile higher and deeper. Their degrees should be withdrawn.
