Who supports Israel

Reader comment on item: Who Supports Israel[, Jews or Conservatives]?

You always make some difficult but true points. What courage. Can I borrow some?

I'm not prone to dark thoughts, but I have to say I think there is a lot of anti-Semitism behind criticism of Israel. I say this not as a Jew. People don't admit their bias, even away from Jews, but I sense they hold Jews to a different standard. It may be the same standard they hold European-descended Protestants. So I'm not sure if it's anti-Semitism or a higher expectation. But I do sense that some people feel that given Jewish power and wealth in the US, why do they need Israel? Leave that godforsaken land to the Arabs. Again, I am paraphrasing sentiment, these are not my personal feelings.

Anyway, I know you are much maligned and I admire your courage for sticking it out.
