Shuja in his mail questioned "since the time of modern history of mankind, the followers of which religion has committed most atrocities on human beings, you can start counting from the time of inavasion of Genghis Khan till now?"

It may be possible to collect such information. But there is another aspect to atrocities. There are atrocites committed by many but what matters is for what cause such atrocities were committed? Shuja cites the name of Genghis Khan -- indeed he committed many atrocities but these were not committed n the name of religion. Like dropping of atom bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki though by followers of Christian faith were not committed in the name of Christianity. But the demolition of World Trade Center was committed in the name of Islam seeking glory to Allah. The massacre of Hindus in India from eighth century and continuining even today -- over 80 million by some estimates over period of time -- were committed in the name of Allah and Islam.

The killings in Iraq every day between the Shia and the Sunnis are being committed in the name of religion. The kilings in the two world wars were not in the name of religion but for territorial gains and personal egos. Alexander's campaign into Asia which also caused much destruction was of a personal nature and had nothing to do with any religion.

I hope Mr. Shuja understands the distinction. There have been and will always be evil individuals and thier acts have nothing to do with any religion.
