The land of diminished responsibilityReader comment on item: Bush on Israel: Heartburn for All Submitted by Michael Peters (United States), Mar 5, 2003 at 21:27 Only in the Near East could illogic on such a grand scale exist. The Palestinians have historical linkage to four unsuccessful military campaigns against Israel. Part of waging war is taking responsibility for its outcome. The West Bank, Golan, and Gaza are not occupied territory. They are the spoils of war. They are Israel's to do with as she pleases. 'Palestine' is for the most part a myth perpetuated domestically by the leftwing press and externally by the failed and corrupt regimes of the region who were once Soviet clients.Arab claims to lost territory are as absurd as German hypothetical claims to East Prussia or the Sudeten. The reality is only elusive to those who shift collective responsibility for their plight to others.
