What Islam is and what Islam is obviously not

Reader comment on item: [The American Muslim Council:] 'Mainstream' Muslims?
in response to reader comment: I Strongly Agree With Sheik Taj Din al-Hilali

Ok, the article was interesting. Women are nothing but a piece of raw meat. But in that context how can a piece of raw meat be responsible. I do not see myself attacking a chicken wing and stating that I gained weight because it made me eat it.

Islam is a very interesting religion. I was recently engaged to an Indian Muslim. It was interesting as I am a progressive European woman. I thought he would be able to transition from his obstacles created by this religion, but he hasn't, in spite of the fact that we both live in Canada.

Islam makes everybody weak and ultimately the world suffers. Again, I am one of those people who believe in 'live and let live'. That means when someone will tell me that in 40C I need to be covered as men will be aroused but they do not need to cover because we do not matter, and with 'piece of meat' cover that women are just placed here for men to use. I guess Allah really gave the biggest power on Earth of birth to an animal. That would make lots of sense to do for a supreme being.

I think Islam as well as any other radical religion stream is extremely dangerous. My ex-fiancee is now ex for a reason. He tried to control me, insult me and tell me what to do as I am a woman. He told me he had sex with me because 'I made him'. I am starting to see similar support and opinions also generating in his community - Islam men in 30s and 40s who still didn't have sexual experiences.

It is very sad, but the bottom line is: all the predominantly Muslim countries are in trouble and I cannot blame Muslims for trying to immigrate to the countries with better standards but one thing should be clear: it is a reason why these countries got where they are; they do not have these 8th century primitive, deadening, and discriminatory rules. It is not clear to me how it is possible to educated men and women to follow Islam, but I think the conditioning is the answer.

I wish all the luck to all religious freaks but please keep them out of developed countries.
