Is this Victory? and Tempering Ambitions

Reader comment on item: Tempering Ambitions [in Iraq]

Submitted by John Loth (United States), Nov 11, 2006 at 20:50

The symposium defining victory and Mr. Pipes' article all seem to have taken place before the recent democratic victory in Senate and House, Rumsfeld exit, and the administrations hints that there will be further changes. The Baker commission is another indication of change. Thus do these articles and suggestions seem slightly out of date, unless I am mistaken...always possible. I would appreciate comment/clarification. I also look forward to Mr. Pipes next article which will hopefully include remarks on events of this week. Or does everyone think Rumsfeld's firing and Bush's promises of a new direction are non-events?

Thank you. John Loth
