The notion that we can negotiate postitions that will allow mutual survival between Islamic fundamentalists and the Western world is absurd. By definition they are true believers who live and die by what they believe is a commandment from Allah. They are not motivated by earthly things, and the things that they do value like jihad and the promise of an afterlife with 72 virgins are not open to negotiation and or discussion with "unbelievers".
What is the basis then from which a negotiation could take place? There is none. The fundamentalist muslims will not be content until the whole world is converted to Islam. Peaceful co-existance is therefore not in the realm of possibility between an fundamentalist Muslim and anyone who rejects that faith.
