Do We really Need More Knee-Jerk ReactionsReader comment on item: Time to Profile Airline Passengers? Submitted by Blackspeare (United States), Aug 22, 2006 at 21:25 What a bunch of government/media hype. The alleged terrorists in the UK had about as much chance of bringing down an airliner by mixing chemicals in an airplane bathroom as I have of jumping over the moon! Preparing an explosive from liquid chemicals requires a time consuming, temperature controlled procedure and then a drying period to produce the solid explosive. In solution the explosive power is much reduced if anything at all and detonation would probably result in the terrorist killing him/herself alone in the bathroom, but then again destroying a bathroom in a crowded airplane could be serious enough.
