Differences between Europe and the USA
Reader comment on item: West Africa - Europe's New Border

Submitted by Octavio Johanson (Italy), Mar 26, 2006 at 11:12

In the USA, most immigrants and Mexicans and Hispanics; in Europe, most immigrants are Arabs and Muslims. Hence the different approach to the debate. This is immigration from Muslim Mauritania, just in case you thought my comments were not relevant. These are the differences between Europe and the the USA. However, there is one thing we have in common: immigration is a taboo subject.

Don't even dare saying something against immigration. You will be classed as a racist, a bigot, an extremist, an Islamophobe and a xenophobe. This much Europe and America have got in common.
