response to paganReader comment on item: The Clash to End All Clashes? Submitted by a Filipino liberal (Philippines), Feb 14, 2006 at 03:39 If only that were the case. However, one needs only look at any news/current affairs forum to see that that is not what's happening. Just look at all the conservatives saying that "all Muslims should be killed", "Islam as a religion should be banned", "Arab countries should be nuked", etc. And they're not joking. Christian and Jewish conservatives (and now, in some cases, Indian Hindus who have always hated Muslims because of the Pakistan-India conflict, and are now taking advantage of the West's offensive against Islam to launch their own attacks)This despite the fact that Christianity is a non-violent religion. I might also mention other cases where religious conservativism is taken to dangerous extremes by people other than Muslims. How about the Ku Klux Klan? And let's not forget the placards reading "Save Christian USA" that were being waved by the white mob attempting to prevent the first black students from entering a white high school in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1957. These are some examples of how white Christian conservatives have somehow connected their religion to their racism in order to justify it. And they haven't stopped yet.
